New Hope UMC

fellowship

From the Buncombe UMC EMBRACE July newsletter,
Rosemary Hughes, Director of Music.

"It all began with a classified ad on the back page of the Advocate ... “choir robes for sale.” After a phone call to the number listed in the ad, Ginny and Jim Doolittle began a conversation with the pastor of New Hope UMC in Rowesville, just outside of Orangeburg. The church’s stained glass windows were in great need of repair, and although they had raised some funds, they made the decision to sell their choir robes as a means of raising a little bit more...

After getting to know the people of this tiny church, we wanted to take our relationship with them a step or two further, and so on Sunday, July 31, the Chancel Choir is taking a field trip to Rowesville, and we will share a “Great Day of Singing” service with the people of New Hope UMC".

This event will be a wonderful experience for us here at New Hope. Please join us for a celebration of praise to God with the wonderful music  of  the Buncombe choir. And a celebration of God's blessings in bringing together these two churches with very different histories. This is surely God working for the good of those who love Him.

The Singing Service will begin at 11:15 and be followed by a fellowship dinner at the Rowesville Community Center. Please let us know if you plan to attend by contacting Sandra Whetsell, either via email atThis email address is being protected from spambots.
